Minehead is the start of the coast path – England’s longest national trail which stretches for 630 miles.
The South West Coast Path (SWCP) is the longest of the national paths and follows the coastline of Somerset, Devon, Cornwall, Devon again and finally Dorset. This section, along the Exmoor coast, is its traditional start, as is done anti-clockwise.

Full tuition is provided for beginners and rods, rigs and bait are available. Teddie Boy Charters runs 4, 5, 8, 10 and 12 hour trips for a range of species which inhabit the Bristol Channel.
Experienced Anglers, Ladies and total novices are all very welcome.
Exmoor Owl & Hawk Centre.
The centre is open to small groups, families, couples and individuals for a moment of quiet and reconnection with nature.
Allerford.
The picturesque 15th century bridge which spans the Aller Brook is a Grade II listing structure supported on two segmented arches. The village is full of attractive period houses. Within the village is the West Somerset Rural Life Museum and Victorian Schoolroom, an attractive thatched building that served as the village’s school in the 19th century.
The village is very well located for visiting the popular Selworthy Beacon, the hill sweeps up towards the beacon, take a walk and enjoy glorious views across the bay and over eastern Exmoor.
Allerford Rural Life Museum.
The pretty village of Allerford lies off the A39 five miles from Minehead and one mile from Porlock and has interesting old cottages and a famous Packhorse Bridge. It is recorded in the Domesday Book in 1085 and is well worth a visit in its own right.
Burrowhayes Farm Riding Stables.
The Dascombe family were dairy farmers on this National Trust Farm until the 1960’s when they took the opportunity of creating what soon became a popular family Caravan & Camping Site.
Today, Julian & Marion continue to offer a warm welcome to visitors and do all they can to meet the ever changing and modern demands without spoiling the old charm and natural beauty for which Burrowhayes is renowned.

Over the past couple of years we have become an Exmoor National Park partner, gained a Certificate of Excellence from TripAdvisor (5/5), as well as winning a ‘Highly Commended’ at the South West Tourism Awards!
We’re looking forward to an exciting and busy 2022, with plans for new activities and events, and hopefully an end to Covid restrictions!
Porlock Weir.
Whether along the coast, through woodland, across moorland or elevated farmland – there are walking options for all ages, abilities and energy levels. From 30 minute strolls out to the Gore and back, to ambitious day long walks along the South West Coastal Path, there really is something for everyone.

Great value carvery
Went for a carvery on Sunday lunchtime. Chef serving up was super friendly & we all enjoyed huge portion sizes! Pork, beef and turkey with all the trimmings and an extra jug of gravy. Good value at £14.50 per person .

Lovely pub by the harbour
Had a walk from the Premier Inn where we were staying to the harbour. Found this little gem of a pub. Great friendly atmosphere, good food, not too pricey. Very nice pub. Welcoming people.

A great time every time
Fantastic evening in every way possible. Food delicious, staff attentive and friendly, decor creates a wonderful atmosphere. Hall and Woodhouse have smashed it when it comes to dining out, a great time every time.

Fab place to eat
Thank goodness for The Old Ship Aground. Minehead has a lack of really good places to eat, but this place was lovely. Really good food and very good service.
